What Is 21 Days?

The New Year is a perfect time to reset, refocus, and step into the life God has for you. At GRACEHOUSE, we start each January with 21 Days of Prayer—a time to break free from the patterns that hold us back and realign our hearts with God’s purpose. Prayer deepens our relationship with Him, helping us set aside daily distractions and focus on what truly matters.

During a time of fasting we also encourage reducing or eliminating activities and inputs that overstimulate or fragment the soul—such as social media, television, streaming, news consumption, gaming, or excessive screen time—in order to create space for rest, reflection, prayer, Scripture, and attentiveness to God.

21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING GUIDELINES

Weeks 1 & 2

  • 🍎 ALLOWED: White meat only (chicken, fish, turkey).

    • Fruits and vegetables.

    • Whole grains (unrefined) — Brown rice, quinoa, oats, barley, sprouted/whole-grains

    • Legumes — Beans, lentils, chickpeas, split peas

    • Nuts and seeds — Raw or dry roasted only

    • Oils  — Olive oil and/or avocado oil

  • 💧 HYDRATION: Water, unsweetened herbal tea, or unsweetened decaf coffee.

  • 🚫 ELIMINATE: All forms of sugar, caffeine, dairy, eggs, bread.

Week 3

  • 🍎 ALLOWED: Drink water or water and juices (with no added sugar)

  • 🚫 ELIMINATE: All else.

Fasting is choosing to set aside food—or certain foods—for a season so we can focus more fully on God.

It’s a powerful spiritual discipline that aligns our hearts with His for breakthrough.

Through fasting, we learn not to be ruled by our physical desires, but to grow in spiritual strength and self-control.

As you seek Him first, God will begin to move and work in every area of your life.
