Baptism

What Is Baptism?
An Outward Expression of an Inward Faith
Baptism is a public declaration of love and commitment. It’s a beautiful outward expression of an inward faith.
If you've already trusted Jesus as your Savior, baptism is your next step.
Water baptism is a public declaration of three important things:
1. You are a follower of Jesus Christ
2. You are beginning a changed life in Christ
3. You are part of a new family
Take Your Next Step
How to get baptized
Sign up for our next baptism. Our team will reach out to you with details and answer your questions. We’ll have a meeting that includes everyone who signed up to share all about baptism, including what to expect on the day of your baptism. Oh, don’t forget to invite friends and family to share in the moment.
Ready to take the plunge?
We invite you to take your next step today.
Your journey with Jesus is uniquely yours, but you’re never alone. Let’s celebrate what God is doing in your life.

Baptism is the next step of obedience after salvation. It’s a way of saying “yes” to Jesus’ command and publicly affirming your faith. Even if you’ve been a Christian for years, if you haven’t been baptized since you were saved, it’s never too late. Baptism is an opportunity
to strengthen your commitment and let your church family celebrate with you.Baptism is about your relationship with Jesus, not church membership status. We welcome anyone who has put their trust in Christ to be baptized here. (We’d love for you to continue growing with our GRACEHOUSE family afterward, but that’s up to you and how God leads you.)
Baptism is for anyone who understands what it means and has made a personal decision to follow Jesus. We welcome kids and teens to be baptized when they’re ready – usually after a conversation to ensure they grasp the gospel and the significance of baptism. We often have a short baptism class or one-on-one discussion so you’ll know what to expect and can ask any questions.
Come comfortably dressed — we’ll provide a free baptism t-shirt and shorts for you to wear during the baptism. Bring a change of clothes (you’ll get wet!) and maybe a plastic bag for wet items. We have towels ready for you, but you can bring your own if you prefer. Don’t forget to invite your family and friends to witness this special moment.
A Message from Our Kids Pastor

Even Jesus Was Baptized
Christ Set the Example for Us to Follow
"As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him."
— Matthew 3:16
Jesus even commanded us to be baptized as part of becoming His disciples. In the Great Commission, He told His followers: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." — Matthew 28:19-20
When you are baptized, you are briefly submerged under water, identifying with the death and burial of Jesus, and then raised out of the water, identifying with His resurrection and new life. In that simple act, you’re saying to the world,“I belong to Jesus, and He has washed me clean!”

What BAPTISM Is Not
Baptism doesn’t make you a believer, but it shows you already believe. Baptism doesn’t save you or wash away your sins. It’s an act of obedience that flows from the heart of one that has trusted in Christ.
We are saved by God’s grace through
faith in Jesus, not by any work we do (Ephesians 2.8-9). Baptism is a response to that salvation, not a requirement to
earn it.
